Man killed in possible dog mauling in Winnipeg's north end

CANADA -- Police say two dogs were seized from a north end home where a man was badly injured and later died.

Officers couldn’t confirm reports the man had been mauled by the dogs.

It happened in the 1100 block of Mountain Avenue at about 10:30 Thursday night.

“Upon arrival a 58 year old male was located outside the residence and transported to hospital in critical condition where he later passed away,” police said in a news release Friday. “The cause of death has not yet been determined and his name is not being released at this time.”

The city’s animal services department was also involved in the investigation.
